Position Summary

Working environment includes working in a shelter. The Case Manager provides services to clients with physical, mental, social, financial and/or psychosocial needs. Assesses and determines appropriate and available services for clients. Develops action plans and goals with client, connects client with additional resources. Gives advice on life skills, with goal of helping clients become independent. The primary goal will be to work with residents of the shelter with employment assistance and housing navigation.

Qualifications Required:

· Bachelor degree in human services, social work or related field or three years of related experience;

· Experience in working with social services case management;

· Experience in enforcing policies and guidelines in a social service setting;

· Record keeping skills;

· Excellent written and oral communication skills;

· Ability to adapt to flexible schedule;

· This is a drug free workplace and all new hires must pass a pre-employment drug test.

Qualifications Preferred:

· Experience in houseless services or housing related services;

· Computer skills, including experience with Excel and Word and the HMIS System;

· Bilingual preferred;

· Knowledge of houselessness issues and of programs available for houseless clients.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

· Meet with clients after initial intake to assess their strengths, barriers and goals and potential for housing;

· Provide case management for shelter residents and those in HSP program;

· Responsible for case notes and client files;

· Assist Supervisor in implementation of work to permanent housing program;

· Enforce shelter guidelines, including possible termination of services;

· Work with agencies to arrange housing for residents moving from the shelter;

· Coordinate with Donation Coordinator to provide needed items for clients;

· Entering client data in HMIS System;

· Provide monthly, annual, and special statistical reports;

· Provide resident support when needed and be available for emergencies;

· Support the goals of the Good Neighbor Center in a team-oriented environment;

· Other duties as assign by Program Supervisor.

Full Job Description

Job Title: Resident Support Staff

Full Time Position- Salaried Exempt

Reports to: Facility Supervisor

Salary: $15 - $24 per hour

 

Position Summary:

Working environment includes working in a homeless shelter. Resident support staff interact daily with shelter residence, conduct intakes, dispense medicines, facilitate weekly resident meetings, enforce rules and chore assignments, conduct room inspections, resolve conflicts, and do general problem-solving with residence. This position may require an on-call, flexible or rotating work schedule.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • High school diploma and one year of related experience;
  • Knowledge of emergency services, homeless services, housing or related social services in child development;
  • Good listening and interpersonal skills;
  • Spanish-speaking skills are highly desirable;
  • Problem-solving skills, particularly in emergency situations;
  • Good written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to utilize basic computer software (Word, Excel, etc.);
  • Experience facilitating meetings with adults;
  • Ability to deal with volunteers in the public.

Qualifications Required:

  • Enforce shelter guidelines in accordance with detailed procedures;
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving with shelter residence;
  • Provide detailed documentation of all meaningful interactions with residence, including critical incidents;
  • Weekly inspection of residence rooms and chore completion;
  • Maintain shelter waitlist;
  • Conduct shelter pre-screens, including background check some potential new residence;
  • Conduct shelter intakes, including UAs and lice checks and new resident orientation;
  • Clean and prepare rooms prior to the arrival of new residence;
  • Distribute medication in accordance with physician orders and GNC policies and procedures;
  • Train overnight host and other volunteers on procedures for assisting in the shelter;
  • Interface with donors in a heavy traffic area, accepting monetary and other donations;
  • Lead the weekly house meeting;
  • General office duties, such as answering phones, copying, faxing, filing, etc.;
  • Support the goals of the organization and a team-oriented environment
