The Good Neighbor Center implements a program
of self-empowerment. Of all the clients who are provided services
at the Center, approximately sixty percent complete the program.
Of these sixty percent, approximately eighty percent successfully
move in to stable housing.
When clients arrive at the shelter, staff
members work with them to:
- Identify barriers to long term stability
- Develop goals
- Set up a work plan that will help them get on track to self-sufficiency
Clients are allowed to stay at the Center
for up to 5 weeks to get on their feet.
All clients are assigned household chores
and are required to participate in meetings held on site.
Staff members work closely with residents
to help them accomplish their goals during their stay at the Center.
The Center has partnerships within the community
that allow the children to enroll and attend school regularly.
Three meals a day are provided. It costs
$15.00 to house and feed one client per day. It costs $60.00 to
house and feed a family of 4 per day.
All meals are volunteer provided.
Other food items are generously donated by
businesses giving us their day old items or other surplus food.
Because of the generous spirit of the people
of east Washington County, west Clackamas County and the surrounding
areas, we are able to serve those who need it most.
