Donation Policy for Good Neighbor Center effective 9/1/2025
The Good Neighbor Center has become a victim of its own success and we are being forced to change our donations policy. We can no longer process the mountains of stuff that people bring to our front door. Organizations like Community Warehouse, Goodwill, and the Salvation Army have the staffing and space to sort, evaluate and resell large donations of furniture and general merchandise, but we do not. Going forward, we must limit donations to what we can immediately use for our families. In addition to food, which is always welcome, we would ask that people limit donations to new and gently used clothing for parents and children, personal hygiene items and towels, bed linens and pillows. In addition, there is always a need for diapers, toilet paper, paper towels, and garbage bags. People are certainly well intentioned, but we have no use for large furniture items, televisions, sports equipment, baby furniture, curtains, or used toys. We love socks and underwear; they don’t take up much space.
